Cellar management training

Whether you’ve been in the business for a few days or a few years our BII-accredited Cellar Management Course can help you look after your ale and deliver great quality in glass.

Creating a quality pint

Our qualified tutors have a wealth of experience and will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to sit the BII Award in Beer and Cellar Quality National Certificate. The course contains everything you need to know about looking after and serving a quality pint of cask ale: From how to look after your cellar, and hints and tips on reducing wastage, to achieving the perfect pint every time – a must in today’s competitive market. Ensuring your ale is consistently the best can help retain your existing customers as well as drawing in new drinkers.

Our courses are held in small groups throughout the year and at various locations around the country, giving you the time and opportunity to ask questions specific to your outlet. Each course runs for a full day with lunch included and a short multiple choice exam at the end.

At the end of the day you will not only come away with a wealth of knowledge to implement but also a handy reference manual, a qualification and certificate too.

The course programme will include:

  • Introduction
  • Beer and brewing
  • Profit through quality
  • The cellar environment and beer spoilage
  • Cask ale
  • Keg and brewery-conditioned ales
  • Pipe cleaning and equipment hygiene
  • Product presentation – how to achieve the perfect pint every time
  • Health and safety
  • BII-ABCQ (Award in Beer & Cellar Quality) examination

This course is part of the Qualification and Credit Framework and is a Level 2 Award. Therefore all delegates are required to provide suitable identification on arrival. Failure to provide suitable identification will result in refusal to sit the examination, however they may take part in the day.
